Northridge High School’s football team faced a challenging start to their season with a 34-14 loss against Fredericktown on August 29. Despite the defeat, the Vikings demonstrated determination and potential that could benefit them as the season progresses.
According to the game report, the Vikings initially took the lead in a dramatic fashion when Ryder Stout returned a blocked kick for a 15-yard touchdown. This early score highlighted Northridge’s capability to make significant plays across all aspects of the game.
Quarterback Ty Koehler managed to throw for 40 yards and secured a touchdown during the match. His nine-yard pass to Lincoln Walton in the third quarter brought Northridge closer at 21-14, indicating that they were not easily conceding defeat. Koehler also added 14 rushing yards, complementing Braden Bingham’s contribution of 34 rushing yards.
Fredericktown relied heavily on their strong running game; however, Northridge’s defense remained competitive throughout. Charlie Kinkead scored seven points with precise execution on extra points and played a crucial role in field position through his punting and kickoff skills.
